Retinal diseases can profoundly affect vision. There are many types of retinal diseases including:
  • Macular Degeneration
  • Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Retinal Detachment
  • Macular Hole

The Eye Institute provides the following medical and surgical services:
  • Treatment of neovascular AMD using current spectrum of anti-VEGF medications and photodynamic therapy, when appropriate.
  • Evaluation of disease of the optic nerve, macula and retina using multi-modal photography, optical coherence tomography, optical coherence angiography, confocal scanning laser based fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography, infrared , autofluorescent and wide-field true color fundus photography
  • Evaluation of disorders of the optic nerve, macula and retina by visual evoked potentials and electroretinography
  • Treatment of diabetic retinopathy using laser photocoagulation, drug injections
    and surgery (vitrectomy)
  • Repair of retinal detachments by office based pneumatic retinopexy and
hospital out-patient surgery center based scleral buckling and vitrectomy
  • Treatment of conditions involving the macula such as macular hole, epimacular
membranes (“macular puckers” or “retinal wrinkling”) by vitrectomy
  • Treatment of retinal vascular conditions including branch retinal and central
